A. Yes, of course. If you 'd like to arrange a trip for 15 or more people, please see our
Bespoke Trips page. We'll work with you to tailor your trip to the needs of your group.
Q. What can I expect at the end of a BoxYoda fitness weekend?
A. Our focus is not on measuring and weighing. In the short time you are with us, we hope to arm you with the tools which will allow you to improve your health and well being in the medium to long run. In addition to the skills you'll learn with us, the combination of vigorous exercise and detoxing diet typically lead to you feeling leaner, fitter and stronger at the end of your fitness weekend. Needless to say, the harder you work while you're with us, the more noticeable the results will be.
Q. Who are the BoxYoda coaches?
A. Guests attending a BoxYoda fitness weekend are coached by highly experienced boxing coaches, personal trainers, yoga teachers and dance instructors.
Q. What kind of boxing training will I be doing?
A. The boxing training emphasis is on circuit training fitness, cardio-vascular exercise and one-on-one pad work. There is no sparring or head contact involved.
Q. Will I learn how to wrap my hands before I put on my boxing gloves?
A. Most definitely! For any controlled pad work you do with our experienced boxing coach, we'll make sure you know how to wrap your hands properly to ensure your knuckles and wrists are kept safe.
Q. I'm a lady. Is boxing training really for me
A. If you thought boxing training was only for the guys, think again. Girls get all the same benefits including:
o Building self-confidence
o Improving heart and lung health
o Losing weight
o Improving muscle strength
o Gaining discipline
o Challenging your limits
o Learning self-defence
o Sculpting a lean body
o Increasing quick reflexes
o Improving focus
o Releasing stress
o Channelling energy in a better way
Q. What kind of yoga will I be doing?
A. The word yoga comes from the Sanskrit word for "yuj" meaning "to unite or integrate". As a result at BoxYoda we do not limit our classes to 1 particular yoga style. The important things is that guests will learn how to improve their breathing, relaxation and meditation skills just as much as improving strength, toning and flexibility.
Q. What kind of dance will I be doing?
A. The key discipline of our dance program is cross body salsa for beginners. Dance classes will be a lot of fun and will focus on timing, turn combinations, foot work and styling.
Q. I'm a guy. Is dancing really for me?
A. For sure. At BoxYoda we'll be teaching salsa. This is one of the most widely known social dances around the world. As the man is normally the partner to lead in salsa, it's a really useful skill to know the basics steps. It's also a lot of fun and once you get moving you'll get a great workout too.
Q. Do I have to do all classes?
A. Participation in activities is optional. However, to gain the most from a BoxYoda fitness weekend we encourage all guests to take part in as much as possible. Our instructors will tailor tuition depending on the experience of the guests in the group.
Q. What sports equipment do I need?
A. We recommend you bring enough training outfits to cover morning and afternoon classes for each full day you are here. For your arrival day and leaving day you will only need 1 training outfit. A second set of running shoes will be handy for any outdoor activities. We provide all equipment required for boxing training and yoga. However, if you have your own hand wraps and boxing gloves, we recommend you bring these along. For your salsa classes we recommend you have shoes with smooth (non-rubber) soles.
Q. Why focus on Boxing Yoga and Dance?
A. The three disciplines compliment each other very well. Boxing training will provide the rigorous and intensive training to chisel and firm-up your body and improve your endurance. Yoga will help with overall flexibility and will help guests tune both mind and body. Finally, the dance discipline provides an excellent workout whilst developing skills of co-ordination, balance, memory and rhythm.
Q. Why is the fun aspect important on a BoxYoda fitness weekend?
A. Increasing fitness levels, decreasing stress and maintaining a healthy weight are all things which are helped by exercising regularly. However, staying interested and motivated to maintain your training routine can be a problem for some people.
If exercise can be fun, guests are more likely to continue it when they return home. For this reason the BoxYoda program of activities is designed to help guests achieve their fitness goals as well as learn new skills which are both useful and fun.
Q. What other fitness activities are available?
A. Hiking trips and bike riding excursions to local sites of natural beauty are also activities we provide.
Q. When will I get my massage?
A. Guests will receive a massage during their stay. Experienced massage therapists are on hand to help guests relax and unwind after your physical activity. We'll arrange your massage to fit conveniently around your schedule.
